Johnny Test started its first season on Kids' WB on September 17, 2005 with the first episodes "Johnny to the Center of the Earth" and "Johnny X" and ended on July 29, 2006 with episodes "Johnny Dodgeball" and "Johnny and the Attack of the Monster Truck". This was the only season to be traditionally animated, as the next seasons are animated in Flash, in order to save the show's budget money.
This season, along with season 2, was released on DVD in a bundle on February 15, 2011 in Region 1. It was also released on DVD on February 21, 2008 in Region 2.

This is the first season to be produced in high definition. This season began airing on Cartoon Network on November 9, 2009. This would be the final season for Louis Chirillo and Ashleigh Ball as the voices of Dukey, Mary Test, and Sissy Blakely, although Ball returns later to resume her roles in Season 6.

On August 24, 2010, it was announced that Johnny Test was renewed for a fifth season. The renewal brought up the series total to 91 episodes.
Johnny Test started its fifth season on June 13, 2011, in the US. This was the first season to premiere on Cartoon Network first. This is also the first season for Trevor Devall as the new voice of Dukey, and Brittney Wilson, who departed from the show after season 1, to return to play Mary Test, Sissy Blakely, and Missy. In August 2012, Netflix released the fifth season of Johnny Test as part of its Cartoon Network series releases.

The sixth season of Johnny Test was ordered in the early March season. It began airing on April 3, 2013, starting with the episode "Johnny on the Clock" on Cartoon Network in the United States.
This season will feature its 100th episode, making it the first Teletoon series and the fourth Cartoon Network to pass the 100-episode milestone. According to creator Scott Fellows, the 100th episode will be a half-hour special.
This season is the first to broadcast in high-definition on Cartoon Network in the United States.
This season also features the re-appearance of Ashleigh Ball, who departed from the show after the fourth season, due to working on other projects.

The animation is smooth, the characters are funny, the intro is really good and there are absolutely no whipcracks. The second season is amazing too, but not as amazing as the first season.
