In Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham, his first serious movie as a hero, Santhanam seemed a bit awkward. He was quite conscious during the emotional scenes and his body language still resembled that of a comedian. Also, having been used to seeing his reactions and tics in a comic context till then, it was a little difficult for us to make that adjustment of looking at him as a hero.
